Staffordshire Fire & Rescue Service - Preventing, Protecting, Responding

Get Tweeting and Win!

V Festival goers this weekend have the chance of winning free VIP camping tickets for next year’s event by re-tweeting fire safety messages.

“The tips are simple and mostly common sense but they could make a difference between having a fun time or having a very different experience.”

Carmel Warren, Prevention Manager for the Western Service Delivery Group.

The prize draw – which opens at 10am on Friday, August 16 and runs throughout the Festival until midnight on Sunday - is open to anyone with a UK address and who has a Twitter account.

To enter, check out Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service’s safety tips by visiting its website www.staffordshirefire.gov.uk and retweet the message vfest2013comp

Carmel Warren, Prevention Manager for the Western Service Delivery Group, said: “We want festival goers to have a great time at V but to do so safely. There’s a section on our website dedicated to the festival with simple advice on driving to and from the event safely, cooking safely if staying over, and making sure you are not at risk of carbon monoxide poisoning if camping.

“The tips are simple and mostly common sense but they could make a difference between having a fun time or having a very different experience.”

Community Safety Officers from the prevent team will also be giving safety advice, showing safety films and gathering views on road safety to enable the Service to learn more about young people’s attitudes. There’s even a chance to try on a pair of “Beer Goggles” which simulate people’s vision when intoxicated.

The prevent team can be found at their base near to the site’s recycling area between 8am and 1pm on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

Posters with road safety messages are also being widely distributed around car parks near to the festival site.
