Charity champions put their best foot forward

30/08/2013

Charity champions are being invited to put their best foot forward as part of a sponsored run inspired by the film Forrest Gump.

"This is a great chance for people to raise money for two incredibly worthwhile charities and to do some exercise at the same time – it is a win, win situation."

Crew Manager Rich Williams

Firefighters from Tamworth Belgrave Community Fire Station are organising the first ever ‘Gump Challenge’.

It will see participants trekking for more than 250 miles from September 11-19, if they chose to complete the whole course.

Runners and walkers will be able to join the group as it journeys from fire station to fire stations across the county.

The event will start at Tamworth Belgrave Community Fire Station at 9am and will kick off at the same time every day.

Money raised will be split between The Fire Fighters Charity and Children in Need.

Organiser Rich Williams said: “This is a great chance for people to raise money for two incredibly worthwhile charities and to do some exercise at the same time – it is a win, win situation.

“This is the first time we have held the Gump Challenge and we are keen to get as many people as possible involved in what we expect will be a really fun charity event. And it’s not just aimed at fitness fans, people don’t have to walk the entire 250 miles, they can just do what they feel comfortable with.”
