The Road Race and Gala Day will be officially opened at 1pm by 12-year-old Lydia Cartwright who has been crowned the ‘Agricultural Queen’.

There will be a one mile run for children, starting at 2.45pm, and five mile road race at 3.30pm.

Firefighters will be demonstrating an animal rescue to show how a horse would be freed from a trailer.

A marching band will process through the village and there will also be horse and cart rides as well as a barbecue and a bar.

A fortune teller will be looking into the future and a bucking bronco will be entertaining thrill seekers.

The event will run from 12.30pm-5pm on Saturday, September 7 at Ipstones Fire Station, Froghall Road.

Ipstones Watch Manager Paul Hewson said: “This event offers something for everyone, with lots of activities to entertain children and adults alike. It is also a great opportunity for the community to get together and see their local firefighters demonstrate dramatic rescue scenes. It promises to be a fun filled day.”
