Staffordshire’s Chief Fire Officer will be leading the way on a national stage after taking on a prestigious role.

Chief Fire Officer Peter Dartford
Peter Dartford has been appointed as Vice President of the Chief Fire Officers Association (CFOA).
Mr Dartford will support Paul Fuller in his role as President during 2013-2014 before taking on the position himself next year.
As part of his role, Mr Dartford will help to shape the future of the fire service at a national level, influencing key decisions and steering it through challenging times.
CFOA is the professional voice of the UK fire and rescue service. It supports members to fulfil their role in protecting local communities and making life safer through improved service delivery.
Mr Dartford said: “I am very much looking forward to playing an increasingly influential role in the future of the UK Fire and Rescue Service, as I believe that what we have done and continue to do here in Staffordshire warrants replication across the country.
“There is no doubt that our approach to delivering positive outcomes for our communities is unique, innovative and sets out a significantly different way of working that is effective, efficient and ensures the safety of our communities and Firefighters is not compromised.”
Mr Dartford began his career at the age of 18, joining Hertfordshire Fire Brigade as a frontline firefighter in 1982.
He went on to become a Junior Officer in 1987 and achieved a number of further promotions, becoming a Divisional Commander in 1997.
In 1999, Mr Dartford joined Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service as a Senior Divisional Officer, later being made Divisional Commander for North Staffordshire.
Mr Dartford took on the role of Assistant Chief Fire Officer in 2001, became Deputy Chief Fire Officer in 2005 and was appointed as Chief Fire Officer/Chief Executive in 2008.
