Cheadle pub fire is believed to be deliberate

A blaze at a disused pub in Cheadle is believed to have been started deliberately.

Crews attended The Royal Oak, on High Street, at 5.42am yesterday after being alerted to a fire in the first floor of the building.

Two fire engines from Longton, one from Cheadle and one from Hanley tackled the blaze.

They used two breathing apparatus and one hose reel jet to put the fire out. A large specialist fan was also used to ventilate the building.

The last crew left the incident at approximately 11.30am.
