Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service has congratulated 14 retained firefighters for successfully completing their initial training. The recipients were awarded certificates at a Celebration of Success evening held at the Service’s Headquarters last night.

“The celebration of success event signified our firefighters becoming fully competent in their roles. It was our opportunity to celebrate their hard work and give their families an insight into the range of training they have been doing.”

All employees have completed the firefighter modules trainee course. Following an initial induction, the firefighters have studied four modules acquiring the necessary knowledge; skills and understanding in using firefighting equipment, dealing with hazardous materials, wearing breathing apparatus, medical assistance, water training and using specialist cutting equipment at road traffic collisions.
During the evening of celebration, the new firefighters, their families and friends viewed a DVD which demonstrated and trained for during the course.
Lead Trainer Jim Keegan said: “The celebration of success event signified our firefighters becoming fully competent in their roles. It was our opportunity to celebrate their hard work and give their families an insight into the range of training they have been doing.”
The firefighters are all retained, meaning they are on call and respond to emergencies via a pager.
The recipients joined Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service within the last 36 months and have been working over this period of time to complete each of the training modules whilst serving at their respective stations.
