Motorists are invited to take their car along from 10am – 4pm and have it washed in return for a donation to charity.

Firefighters, fire cadets and eight fire and rescue service apprentices will be rolling their sleeves up for the event which is set to benefit The Fire Fighters Charity.

The event has been organised by a team of apprentices from Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service as part of National Apprenticeships Week.

Business Administration Apprentice for Safer Communities CIC Ruth Kewn said: “We have been doing various activities to celebrate National Apprenticeships Week and it is hoped this event will raise money for a very worthwhile cause - The Fire Fighters Charity. Motorists will also be able to talk to the apprentices throughout Saturday about training and career opportunities available within Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service.”

Other activities the apprentices have been involved in during the week have included school visits, careers fairs and other fundraising events.

The Service’s apprenticeship programme currently employs six business administration apprentices, two motor vehicle apprentices, one fire control apprentice, one supplies apprentice and one ITC apprentice.
