Crews will be showcasing their latest fire engine and demonstrating animal rescue techniques during the annual Staffordshire County Show later this month.

"The County Show is a great opportunity for people to meet Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service staff, to see firefighters in action when they demonstrate an animal rescue and to have a closer look at the appliances."

Jude Russell - Internal Communications and Events Manager

The Service’s much loved mascot Welephant will also be on hand to meet and greet younger visitors, encouraging them to sign up to his fun filled club.

The pioneering Staffordshire Emergency Response Operation (SERO) vehicle will be available so that people can view the latest technologies in firefighting.

A newsletter featuring information about the Flames Aren’t Games campaign, the new community fire stations and Home Fire Risk Checks will be handed out. There will also be the chance to win a Samsung Galaxy Three Tablet by answering a question in the magazine.

The Service will have a stand at the Weston Road venue in Stafford from 8am-6pm on Wednesday, May 28 and Thursday, May 29.

Jude Russell, Internal Communications and Events Manager, said: "The County Show is a great opportunity for people to meet Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service staff, to see firefighters in action when they demonstrate an animal rescue and to have a closer look at the appliances.

"Children will have the chance to meet Welephant and sign up to his club. We will also be encouraging people to book a free Home Fire Risk Check which involves firefighters or trained technicians visiting properties, giving out vital safety advice and fitting or replacing smoke alarms."
