Firefighters are inviting members of the community to visit the Service’s headquarters as part of the popular Family Day.

"It is also a really good opportunity for visitors to learn more about fire safety in the home and there will be lots of fun filled activities to entertain guests both young and old."

Jude Russell - Internal Communications and Events Manager

The free event, from midday to 4pm on Saturday, September 20, will offer oodles of entertainment for children and adults alike.

Visitors will be able to watch the crews carry out a variety of daring demonstrations including fire house rescues and car crash extrications.

The fleet of emergency vehicles from the Service will also be showcased as well vehicles from a range of partner organisations.

Visitors can talk to firefighters about home and road safety. People can also sign up for free Home Fire Risk Checks.

Stafford FM will be entertaining guests and there will be competitions and a barbecue.

Jude Russell, Internal Communications & Events Manager, said: "The Family Day is a great chance for members of the community to gain a real insight into the wide range of work that the fire and rescue service carries out.
