Fun packed line up for Family Day

Daring rescue demonstrations, Stafford FM, face painting and much more will be entertaining visitors to the Service’s Family Day this weekend.

"This year’s Family Day promises to be our biggest and best ever with entertainment and activities to appeal to people of all ages and interests.It is a great opportunity to learn more about the fire and rescue service with some impressive rescue demonstrations going on throughout the day. People can also have a look at the fire appliances, meet the crews and sign up for a free Home Fire Risk Check."

The biannual event – which is free to attend - will take place from midday-4pm on Saturday, September 20.

Young people can take part in various games on the portable sports arena StreetstadiaTM and a host of top prizes will be up for grabs in the tombola and raffle.

The water rescue unit, animal rescue unit and rescue boat will be showcased and people can also meet the dogs from Staffordshire Police and West Midlands Fire Service.

Firefighters will demonstrate extrication techniques that are used in road traffic collisions as well as showcasing rope rescues.

Search and rescue teams will be on hand along with the casualty simulation group and there will be a road safety stand.

Children can sign up to join the Welephant Club, find hidden prizes in a game of treasure hunt and play the ‘railway game’.

Refreshments including a barbecue, pulled pork, baked potatoes, ice cream, cakes and sweets will be available.

"Various organisations from across the county will have stalls ranging from the fostering and adoption service to the police and ambulance as well as big local companies. It will be a great day out for the entire family and even better – it is absolutely free to attend."
