Five retained firefighters have been congratulated after completing a challenging three-year development programme to become fully competent.
Richard Froggart, Clare Carthy, James Shaw, Simon Poole and Debbie Jones have now passed all of the necessary tests to reach the level of a competent firefighter.
They will be awarded certificates at a Celebration of Success evening at Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service’s headquarters on Wednesday.
Cllr Kath Banks, Vice Chair of Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service Fire Authority will present the firefighters with their certificates.
The firefighters are based at Chase Terrace, Gnosall, Abbots Bromley, Uttoxeter and Ipstones fire stations respectively.
Following an initial induction, the retained firefighters have studied four modules acquiring the necessary knowledge, skills and understanding in using firefighting equipment, dealing with hazardous materials, wearing breathing apparatus, medical assistance, water training and using specialist cutting equipment at road traffic collisions.
During the evening of celebration, the new firefighters, their families and friends viewed a DVD which demonstrated and trained for during the course.
The firefighters are all retained, meaning they are on call and respond to emergencies via an alerter.
The recipients have been working over 36 months to complete each of the training modules whilst serving at their respective stations.
