Staffordshire Fire & Rescue Service - Preventing, Protecting, Responding

Commitment to Reducing Deaths, Injuries and Incidents

The proactive work that we are carrying out, often in collaboration with partner organisations is paying off and proves that prevention is at least as effective, and far better and cheaper than cure.

The Service has changed and modernised its approach in recent years and this has benefitted the people of Staffordshire, with incident figures going down when we compared the last 5 years. The statistics were analysed for Feb 2011- January 2014 and compared with Feb 2015 - January 2016 and they showed that:

  • The total number of incidents has reduced by 37% from 11,654 to 7353
  • Figures for accidental fires in homes dropped from 598 to 563
  • The number of people injured in property fires across Staffordshire has decreased by 38% from 21 to 13
  • Road traffic collisions attended by the service have decreased slightly from 635 to 612
  • Small fires have decreased by 57% from 3452 to 1501

We remain absolutely committed to further reducing the number of incidents we attend and will not become complacent. Any fire or other emergency that causes harm or distress within our communities is one too many.
