Firefighters are inviting residents to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Tutbury Fire Station on Sunday, July 12.

"There will be lots going on throughout the day so there is sure to be something to suit everyone. People can sign up for a free Home Fire Risk Check to ensure their homes are as safe as possible and can have a behind the scenes look at the fire station and have a look at the fire engines."

Crews will be putting on chip pan fire demonstrations and taking referrals for free Home Fire Risk Checks (HFRC) during the event from midday-4pm.

There will be a range of stalls including craft and cake stalls. Some of the money raised will be given to the Fire Fighters Charity. West Midlands Ambulance’s Blood Bike will be at the event along with the smoke tent from Derbyshire Fire and Rescue Service.

HFRC Technician and MORE Award winner Bill Beck, who has organised the event alongside his colleagues at Tutbury, said: "We would love members of the community that we serve to join us for what promises to be a very special occasion.
