Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service has teamed up with Afford Rent-a-Car to drive forward a series of dynamic sporting activities across Staffordshire.

“Many young people are unable to access sporting facilities in their communities. Afford Rent-a-Car’s generosity means we can reach a wide variety of locations and take the free activities to them"

Head of Safer Communities CIC Kate Staples

The rent-a-car specialist has generously provided a dedicated vehicle for storing and transporting the StreetStadiaTM equipment across the county.

The pioneering project will use a StreetStadiaTM portable arena to transform open spaces into sports stadiums for young people aged between 8-17.

An assortment of free games and activities including dodgeball, football and volleyball will be organised by Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service staff, partners, volunteers and community groups.

Head of Safer Communities CIC Kate Staples said: “Many young people are unable to access sporting facilities in their communities. Afford Rent-a-Car’s generosity means we can reach a wide variety of locations and take the free activities to them.

“This sporting initiative gives young people the chance, not only to take part in various sports but to try new activities and to play, have fun and build friendships. We want to encourage people to improve their own health, wellbeing and safety.”

Corporate Sales Manager at Afford Rent-a-Car Dave Powell said: “Afford Rent-a-Car was delighted when Staffordshire Fire and Rescue contacted us to be involved with the StreetStadia™ scheme.

“Any community scheme that involves young people having fun and enjoying a variety of sports is a worthwhile project to be associated with.”
