People are being reminded that they have just one month left to vote for their ‘Fire Service Champion 2016’.
"There’s just one month left for people to vote for their ‘Fire Service Champion 2016’ so I would encourage anyone who has had an experience with one of our team which went above and beyond the call of duty to submit a nomination so that their efforts can be recognised."
Chief Fire Officer Peter Dartford
Residents, partners and businesses are invited to vote for a member of the team who has acted above and beyond the call of duty, shown professionalism at all times or helped a member of the community during difficult circumstances.
Members of the Service who have gone the extra mile in helping to deliver our vision of a first-class service, have shown continual commitment to their colleagues and communities or demonstrated great courage during adversity, can also be put forward.
Visit http://www.staffordshirefire.gov.uk/1412.asp to place a nomination or call Nicky Westwood 01785 898979 or Jude Russell on 01785 898579 to request a hard copy of the form. Alternatively email email@example.com or firstname.lastname@example.org The deadline for nominations is 5pm on March 31 and the awards ceremony will be held on June 30.
Chief Fire Officer Peter Dartford said: "There’s just one month left for people to vote for their ‘Fire Service Champion 2016’ so I would encourage anyone who has had an experience with one of our team which went above and beyond the call of duty to submit a nomination so that their efforts can be recognised. It’s not unusual for people who work for the Service, whether they are frontline firefighters, community safety officers, office workers, volunteers or members of the Fire and Rescue Authority, to go the extra mile on a day to day basis and for that I am extremely grateful.
"The quality of nominations for this particular category of the MORE Awards is always incredibly high and, in many ways, it is the most prestigious title to be given as submissions come exclusively from residents."
The remaining eight categories are put forward internally, with one of the awards being presented to an external organisation which has assisted the Service through its contribution to fire safety. They include:
• Fire Service Champion (voted by staff)
• Fire Service Champion – Partnership Achievement
• Fire Service Fundraiser Champion
• Fire Service Champion – Service to the Community
• Peter Harrison Innovation and Improvement Champion
• Leadership Message and Cultural Framework Champion
• Young Person of the Year
• Sonja Oatley Member Involvement in the Community
Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service is actively seeking sponsorship for the MORE Awards ceremony. Any interested businesses should contact Jude Russell on 01785 898579 on the numbers provided for further information.
