Fundraising firefighters present £10,050 to charity

Fundraising firefighters presented five organisations in Stoke-on-Trent with cheques totalling more than £10,000. The presentation took place at Hanley Community Fire Station at 3pm on March 8, 2016.

"Thanks to the generosity of local businesses and those who attended our fundraising events and donated money, we are able to make a difference to these well-deserving charities."

The crew at Hanley held a host of events to raise the money including the popular Stokie Christmas Market, curry nights in Alessie in Church Street, Audley and through the sale of fire service merchandise.

The money has been donated to the following groups:

• Fire Fighters Charity - £2,500
• Donna Louise Trust - £2,500
• Douglas MacMillan - £2,500
• Fresh Hair - £2,500  
• First Basford Girl Guides -£50 

Fire Safety Assistant Kelvin Chell, who led the fundraising efforts, said: “Thanks to the generosity of local businesses and those who attended our fundraising events and donated money, we are able to make a difference to these well-deserving charities.

“Each charity holds a special place in our hearts and we are absolutely delighted to be able to support them with our fundraising efforts and ensure that the good work they do for the community continues.”
