Volunteers honoured at special ceremony

Volunteers and members of Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service at the event to celebrate the contribution volunteers make to the Service.

Volunteers who dedicate their spare time to supporting the work of Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service were honoured at a special ceremony.

“Volunteers are the face of the Service, promoting its safety messages and handing out information at business and community events.”

Thirty volunteers attended the event at the Service’s headquarters on March 8.

They were welcomed by Chief Fire Officer Peter Dartford who presented them each with a certificate in recognition of the contribution they have made to the Service.

Head of Prevent and Protect Jim Bywater thanked the volunteers for their help and praised the work they do within their local communities.

A presentation by Chief Executive of VAST, Sajid Hasmi, MBE, highlighted the important role volunteers play within the fire and rescue service.

Jim Bywater said: “Volunteers take on a wide range of roles within Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service including promoting safety in the community and within businesses, as well as training Fire Cadets.

“Volunteers are the face of the Service, promoting its safety messages and handing out information at business and community events.”
