Appointment of New Deputy Chief Fire Officer

Deputy Chief Fire Officer/Deputy Chief Executive, Rob Barber

Following a two day process, Stoke-on-Trent and Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Authority Appointments Committee has selected Rob Barber for the position of Deputy Chief Fire Officer/Deputy Chief Executive for Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service.

"On behalf of the Authority Appointments Committee and following considerable discussion with the members of the authority and professional advisors, I am very pleased to announce that Mr Barber will take up the position of Deputy Chief Fire Officer/Deputy Chief Executive with effect from Sunday May 1."

Mr Barber is expected to take up the role of Deputy Chief Fire Officer/Deputy Chief Executive with effect from Sunday May 1, following the promotion of Becci Bryant to the position of Chief Fire Officer/Chief Executive. 

Mr Barber has been with Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service since starting as a firefighter in 1997 and has worked his way up through the organisation. He is currently the Director of Response.

We are confident that Rob is the right officer to work alongside Becci Bryant and to continue to improve the safety of our communities through the provision and future development of a first class fire and rescue service. I wish Rob every success in his new and exciting position within our organisation.”

Chief Fire Officer, Becci Bryant said: “It gives me great pleasure to welcome Rob into the role of Deputy Chief Fire Officer/Deputy Chief Executive. I look forward to working with him and to building on my predecessor’s past successes to ensure that Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service continue to give an outstanding quality of service to the people who live and work in the county.”
