Plastic waste fire in Milton caused deliberately

A fire investigation into the incident on Redhill Road in Milton has found the blaze was started deliberately

The Service was called to the incident at Hanbury Plastics at 8.23am on Sunday February 5 and had 53 firefighters on site at the height of the fire.

Firefighters have continued to tackle the fire from the outside of the building whilst the investigation into the cause was underway. Operations have now been scaled down to two engines and the high volume pump.

Fire Investigation Officer Ian Broadhead said: “We have worked closely with Staffordshire Police during the investigation and concluded that the fire was started deliberately.

“The Service will now be helping police with their investigation and further enquiries.”
