Firefighters attended a road traffic collision on the M6 northbound between junctions 15 and 16 yesterday evening.
The call for the incident was received at 8.21pm and crews from Newcastle, Kidsgrove and Longton attended.
The incident involved three vehicles and two people were trapped by their injuries. Firefighters cut them free using hydraulic cutting equipment and they, along with a further seven casualties, were taken to the University Hospital of North Staffordshire.
Crews left the incident at 9.38pm.
