Safety Messages at School Gates

19/10/2009

Burton firefighters are urging parents to speak to their children about the importance of wearing their seatbelts when travelling in cars.

Firefighters are visiting two primary schools in Burton during pick-up and drop-off times, targeting parents outside school gates to speak to them about how they can help keep their children safe when travelling on the roads.

"This is a great way for us to get across those all important road safety messages to the children."

Firefighter Anjum Riaz

We will be giving out free versions of the CD-ROM ‘Street Scene’ which includes fun activities to help educate the children about road safety. Parents will also be given road safety leaflets and have the opportunity to speak to the crews about fire safety in the home.”

The visits will take place at Christ Church Infants School at 8.30am on Thursday 22nd October and at Anglesey Primary School at 3pm on Friday 23rd October.
