Elderly Man Rescued in Flat Blaze Drama


Firefighters forced their way into a Stafford flat to rescue an elderly man after fire broke out in his kitchen. Two crews from Stafford were called to the property in New Street, Foregate, at 4.08pm on Wednesday, November 4th.

"On entering the property, four firefighters wearing breathing apparatus were confronted by heavy smoke and used one hose reel jet to tackle the ground floor blaze."

The occupant received oxygen therapy at the scene before being taken by ambulance to Stafford General Hospital The cause of the fire is said to be accidental. The blaze caused minor smoke damage to the living room while the kitchen was badly damaged. The occupant is to be re-housed The incident closed at 4.33pm.
