Staffordshire Fire & Rescue Service - Preventing, Protecting, Responding

Firefighters Take a Walk

Student firefighters took giant steps to boost the profile of their club with a charity walk which has raised more than £1,000.

Members of the Stone Young Firefighters club completed an 8.1-mile trek from Stafford to Stone in just four-and-a-half hours.

"The students were a credit to the Service and themselves, they organised the whole thing."

Cash raised from the event will boost the Fire Fighters Charity and top up the Club’s own coffers for new uniform and accessories.

Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service Firefighter, Jamie Richards, runs the Stone Firefighters Club.

He was joined on the walk by nine student firefighters, four instructors and one community first responder.

"We want the Club to have its own identity within the town so it is recognised as being an integral part of the community," he said.

The Student Firefighters Club meets every Friday at Stone Fire Station on Stafford Close from 6pm to 8pm.

Young people aged 11 to 16 with an interest in the fire service are welcome to attend and find out more.
