Kitchen Fire in Hixon

Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service were called to an incident on Ivy Court in Hixon last night.

Two crews from Stafford and Rugeley attended the incident which involved a fire in the kitchen area of the property. The incident is believed to have been caused accidentally due to an electrical fault with a dishwasher.

"Upon arrival firefighters found all occupants had evacuated the property safely after being alerted to the fire by operating smoke alarms."

"Crews wearing breathing apparatus used hose reel jets to tackle the fire and ventilated the property. One female casualty was reported to be suffering from smoke inhalation however she did not attend hospital."

The incident caused heavy smoke logging to the first floor of the property and also substantial water damage due to a water pipe which burst as a result from the heat off the fire.

The Fire Emergency Support Vehicle also attended the incident. Fire Emergency Support assist the fire service at incidents where people have suffered from a house fire to offer welfare and support after the experience of a fire.

This incident closed at 1.07am.
