Kitchen Fire in Yoxall

Firefighters from Abbots Bromley and Barton under Needwood were called to a house fire on Raven Road in Yoxall just before 2am this morning,

The occupants of the property were extremely lucky to escape from the house as they did not have working smoke alarms fitted.

The fire was started accidentally in the kitchen of the property.  Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus extinguished the blaze.

One male casualty and one female casualty were inside the property when the fire started. They were both treated for smoke inhalation and were taken to The Queens Hospital in Burton by land ambulance.

Group Manager Tim Hyde said: “The occupants of the property were extremely lucky to escape from the house as they did not have working smoke alarms fitted. We cannot stress enough the importance of having working smoke alarms. We would urge anybody who does not have a smoke alarm to contact the fire service on 0800 0241 999 to book a free home fire risk check.”

As a result of the fire the property has been severely damaged and is now inhabitable.
