Flat Fire in Lichfield

Firefighters from Lichfield were called to a fire on Maxwell Close in Lichfield at 7.20pm last night. One crew attended the incident which involved cooking materials that had been left unattended.

The fire was out on arrival however firefighters ventilated the property. One elderly male was then transported to Good Hope Hospital as a precautionary measure.

"We would urge all members of the public to ensure that cooking materials are fully turned off before leaving the room, and most importantly to ensure they have operating smoke alarms which will alert them in the event of a fire.

"Luckily this property was fitted with smoke alarms, however firefighters will be returning to neighbouring flats today where they will carry out home fire risk checks after discovering they didn’t have batteries in their smoke alarms. If you have not yet received your free home fire risk check, call our FREEPHONE number 0800 0241 999 and get yours booked in today."
