House Fire in Newcastle

Firefighters are currently tackling a house fire in Newcastle.

Two appliances from Newcastle and one from Burslem are in attendance at the incident in Sparch Avenue, Wolstanton.

"If people haven’t already had a visit from us to carry out a home fire risk check we’d urge them to get in touch."

Mick Daniels, Station Manager

Fire broke out on the ground floor of the two-storey semi-detached property at 3.14pm.

Four firefighters wearing breathing apparatus have been using one hose reel jet to tackle the fire. The incident is ongoing and fire investigation officers are due at the scene shortly.

Just half an hour previous to this the same crews from Newcastle and Burslem attended a kitchen fire at a property in Calvert Grove, Bradwell.

The blaze, which involved a grill pan, was extinguished by two firefighters wearing breathing apparatus and using one hose reel jet.

Station Manager, Mick Daniels said: "If people haven’t already had a visit from us to carry out a home fire risk check we’d urge them to get in touch.

"Not only do we fit smoke alarms we also discuss escape routes and also fit other life saving equipment such as fireguards."
