Burton Firefighters Raise Money for Haiti Survivors

Burton firefighters will be in Burton town centre this Saturday to raise money for the survivors of the Haiti earthquake.

The firefighters from white watch will be collecting donations from members of the public to contribute to the aid appeal.

"We would urge shoppers to come over to us and donate as much money as they can for the survivors of the earthquake. Some of our colleagues from neighbouring fire services are trained in urban search and rescue and they were sent out to Haiti to assist. We can’t imagine what they had to deal with – it was obviously a very difficult rescue operation."

Watch Manager, Mark Coates from Burton Fire Station

Staff at the Service’s Headquarters have already raised £247.33. Anyone wishing to donate money to the appeal can do so by visiting Burton town centre on Saturday 30th January between 9.30am and 4.30pm.
