Cottage damaged in incident

Fire investigators are today investigating the cause of a fire at a cottage in Sheen in the Staffordshire Moorlands.

Fire investigators alongside the police are removing the rubble a layer at a time in order to investigate exactly where the fire started and what the cause was.

The incident occurred shortly after 8.30pm on Monday evening. Four appliances from Longnor, Leek and Ipstones attended the incident, which caused substantial damage to the stone built, two storey property.

Assistant Area Commander for the Moorlands, Andy Kinsman said: “The building has now been made structurally safe allowing us to continue our investigations. Fire investigators alongside the police are removing the rubble a layer at a time in order to investigate exactly where the fire started and what the cause was. Obviously it’s a fairly complex operation and we anticipate being here for the rest of the day.”
