Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service were called to two separate road traffic collisions in Lichfield and Burslem yesterday. At both incidents, attending crews released casualties from the vehicles involved.
The first incident was at 3.40pm and involved two vehicles on Shaw Lane in Kings Bromley, Lichfield.
Three crews from Lichfield, Barton under Needwood and the rescue tender from Stafford were called to the incident.
Two male casualties were extricated from the vehicles using specialist cutting equipment. One of the men was transported to North Staffs Royal Infirmary by air ambulance. The second casualty was taken to Queens Hospital in Burton by land ambulance.
The second incident occurred at 7.30pm, again involving two vehicles colliding on Sneyd Hill in Smallthorne, Burslem. Two appliances from Burslem attended the incident releasing one casualty from one of the vehicles who was then treated by paramedics at the scene. Firefighters made the vehicle safe and left the scene at 7.45pm.
