Staffordshire Fire & Rescue Service - Preventing, Protecting, Responding

New Fire Station in Your Hands

Residents and the local business community are invited to shape the future of Burton Fire Station.

"We want to consider all views on specification, aesthetics and what additional facilities should be included."

Mick Archer, Area Commander for East Staffordshire

As part of a ten station multi-million pound project, Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service is planning to redevelop the facility on Moor Street.

Funding for the scheme is through a Private Finance Initiative (PFI). A final decision on the Service’s bid is due shortly. In preparation, people are invited to attend a consultation event at Burton Fire Station on Wednesday, March 24th, where they will learn about the proposed scheme.

The new building, to be known as Burton Community Fire Station, would stand on the current site.

Mick Archer, Area Commander for East Staffordshire, said: "I am very pleased that Burton is being considered for a new fire station, following a multi-million pound Private Finance Initiative bid.

"The consultation event will give the public and members of local organisations the
chance to influence the shape of the new station with regards to its design and how it is used.

"We want to consider all views on specification, aesthetics and what additional facilities should be included."

The consultation event at Burton Fire Station will be split into two sessions. The first which will run from 3pm to 5pm is for partners and businesses. A public event runs from 6pm to 8pm.

Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service staff and the team managing the project will be in attendance to take questions from the floor.

Interested parties who are unable to attend the event but would like to be involved in the consultation process should telephone 01785 898502 or email: r.kidd@staffordshirefire.gov.uk.
