Residents and the local business community are being invited to shape the future of Rugeley Fire Station.

Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service is planning to rebuild the station on Bryans Lane. A consultation event is being held at the fire station on Monday 19th April, where attendees can find out more information and submit their own ideas.
Rugeley is one of ten fire stations that has been selected to be rebuilt under a £50 million public finance initiative (PFI) scheme. Cannock Fire Station is currently being rebuilt under another, earlier PFI scheme.

"The consultation event will give the public and members of local organisations the chance to influence the shape of the new station with regards to its design and how it is used. We want to consider all views on specification, aesthetics and what additional facilities should be included."
Visitors can attend one of two consultation sessions being held at the fire station on 19th April. The first which will run from 3pm to 4.30pm and the second from 5.30pm – 7pm.
Rugeley firefighters, the Area Command team and the PFI project team will be at the events and will be available to answer questions.

The ten fire stations due to be rebuilt are: Stone, Burton-on-Trent, Chase Terrace, Codsall, Kinver, Lichfield, Leek, Penkridge, Ashley and Rugeley. Outline planning applications has been granted for all ten sites. At this stage companies are being invited to find out more about the project and later this year they will have the opportunity to put bids in to manage the project. A preferred bidder is expected to be selected in Summer 2011, with construction starting on the first new fire stations in 2012.
