Staffordshire Fire & Rescue Service - Preventing, Protecting, Responding

Win Eco-Goodies at Fire Station Open Day

Visitors to Wombourne Community Fire Station on Saturday 24th April could win themselves some top energy-saving goodies!

The Energy Saving Trust has teamed up with Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service and South Staffordshire Council to offer local residents the opportunity to receive a FREE home fire risk check, an impartial home energy report and the chance to win a top eco-kettle.

The open day at the station on Giggetty Lane kicks off at 10am on Saturday 24th April and promises family fun and plenty of free goodies, entertainment and information about staying safe in the home.

The event comes just weeks after South Staffordshire Council and Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service were awarded £2000 by fuel poverty charity, National Energy Action, for excelling with their energy efficiency initiatives.

Councillor Mrs Joan Williams, (Deputy Leader) Environmental Services at South Staffordshire Council said:

“We’re hoping to see lots of people at the open day. There’ll be plenty for the youngsters to do and it’s a great chance to meet the local firefighters, get some handy tips on how to stay safe in the home, and save energy”.

Keith Stubbs, Area Commander for South Staffordshire commented:

“This will be a fantastic fun day for all the family, but there is a serious message behind it all in relation to the environment. We hope to educate people in an informal way and hopefully they will leave the event prepared to make some simple lifestyles changes, both in relation to fire safety and the environment.”
