Crews remain at scene of car fire

Fire crews currently remain at the scene of a car fire on the A38 southbound in Branston.

Firefighters were called to the area just after 7.40am this morning (Tuesday 16 August).

Crews from Burton attended and on arrival found a black Mercedes C220 alight in a layby.

Highways and Staffordshire Police were also in attendance to assist with traffic management.

The driver of the vehicle, the sole occupant of the car, was uninjured.

Crews remain at the scene clearing debris and a fuel spillage.

One lane of the carriageway has since reopened.

However, drivers are being urged to avoid the area and take alternative routes where possible.
