Firefighters set up for a long ride for charity

November 29 2018

Staffordshire Fire and Recue Service’s new recruits are pedalling for charity at an event this Saturday (December 1) at Morrisons, Festival Park, in Etruria from 10am to 3pm.

We are fundraising for the Firefighter’s Charity who look after firefighters and their families during times of hardship and also the When you wish upon a star charity, another that is close to our hearts due to the help it offered to one of our own families.

The 20 trainees will be wearing their full fire kit whilst trying to ride as many kilometres as possible on their exercise bikes to raise money for the Fire Fighters Charity and When you Wish Upon a Star.

One of the participants, Dave Small said: “We are fundraising for the Firefighter’s Charity who look after firefighters and their families during times of hardship and also the When you wish upon a star charity, another that is close to our hearts due to the help it offered to one of our own families.

“For those who can guess our total distance on the day there will be some great prizes on offer. We will be bringing along a fire engine and Welephant will be making an appearance as well. So come and have a chat, a laugh at our expense and let’s raise some money to help make sure those who are not as fortunate as us have a great Christmas too.

“Even if you can’t make it along, please check out what these great charities do by visiting their websites and please, if you find the time, donate.”
