Crews attend accidental electrical fire in Lichfield

Firefighters attended an accidental fire in Lichfield, on Sunday (23 January), caused by an electrical fault

Crews from Tamworth and Tamworth Mercia were called to Tamworth Street, Lichfield, at 3.25am and discovered a commercial premises which was well-alight.

Initial crews worked quickly to control the fire while additional appliances from Cannock, Rugeley and West Midlands Fire Service attended the scene.

No-one was injured.

An aerial ladder platform was used by firefighters to access the roof of the property, where six breathing apparatus, two hose reel jets and one covering jet was used to extinguish the blaze.

The cause was later determined to be accidental as a result of an electrical fault - causing a fire to spread.

A thermal scan of the premises was conducted at 10.40am before firefighters left the scene a short time later.
