Crews attend deliberate water sprinkler activation

Water Carrier on a ramp ready to be fixed

We have attended a block of flats in Stoke-on-Trent after a water sprinkler head was set off deliberately.

Firefighters were called to a residential area off Well Street, Hanley, at 10.15am on Thursday (27 October).

Crews from Hanley and Newcastle attended as did colleagues from Staffordshire Police and the local authority.

Upon arrival, a significant amount of water was found inside the flats which had caused considerable damage to a communal area.

Firefighters assisted in isolating the electricity supply at the property.

No one was reported injured.

A number of people were evacuated from the flats by police colleagues and the local authority.

We left the scene at about 1pm.

The incident has been left in the care of Stoke-on-Trent City Council and Staffordshire Police.
