Crews continue to tackle derelict building fire

Firefighters are continuing to tackle a fire at a derelict building in Stoke-on-Trent.

A total of six crews remain at the scene of the fire in a commercial unit on Paxton Street in Hanley.

The alarm was raised at around 6am today (Tuesday 15 October).

Firefighters are actively committed inside the building and an aerial ladder platform remains in use.

Fire crews are currently dampening down at the scene and are likely to be there for some time.

People living nearby should continue to close their windows and doors as a precaution due to the excess smoke still coming from the building.

The cause of the fire will be determined following a fire investigation.

Colleagues from Staffordshire Police have been informed.
