Crews in attendance at house fire in Rugeley

Firefighters remain in attendance at the scene of a house fire in Rugeley.

Shortly after 3.15am this morning (Saturday 9 July), crews from Cannock, Chase Terrace, Brewood, Stafford, Rising Brook, Burton and Rugeley were called to a house fire near Burnthill Lane.

All occupants of the property had evacuated upon the arrival of firefighters.

Paramedics assessed seven people at the scene who were all transported to hospital for treatment.

Their injuries are not believed to be life threatening or life changing at this time.

Colleagues from Staffordshire Police attended to close the affected road whilst crews worked at the scene.

Three main jets, two hose reel jets and an aerial ladder platform were used to safely extinguish the blaze.

Crews from Rising Brook and Tutbury attended shortly after 7.30am after six crews departed the scene.

Station Manager Leigh Richards, who attended the incident, said: “Firefighters have worked diligently at the scene to mitigate the spread of the fire to neighbouring properties.

“The road will remain closed for some time whilst the aerial ladder platform is utilised.

“Gas and electric supply within the area has been isolated in order to ensure residents within the locality are protected.”

An investigation into the cause is ongoing.
