Crews rescue horse

We have rescued a horse trapped 4ft down a river embankment in Stafford.

Multiple crews, as well as animal rescue and water rescue teams, were called to land off Trent Lane, Ingestre, just before 9.45am, yesterday (Wednesday 30 October).

On arrival, we found the exhausted animal trapped in silt in around 3ft of water.

Using animal rescue equipment, the horse was brought to safety by appropriately trained crews and assessed at the scene by a vet.

The horse was returned to its stables following the rescue and will be monitored over the coming days by the owners and veterinarians.

Crews left the scene just before 2.30pm.
