Firefighters were called to a commercial premises in Stoke-on-Trent on Tuesday (1 March), following reports of an electrical fire.

Crews from Hanley and Longton attended an address on City Road, Fenton at 2.30pm and discovered smoke to be emitting from the ceiling of the property.

Firefighters isolated the electrics and removed the floorboards of the first floor in-order to locate the source of the smoke.

Crews located and extinguished a fire at 3.35pm. Further firefighters worked to extract smoke from the adjoining property.

No-one was injured.

The cause was later determined to be accidental, as a result of an unsafely discarded cigarette which had fallen into a cavity and started a fire.

A thermal scan of both properties was conducted before firefighters departed the scene at 4.20pm.
