Crews tackle fire at disused bowling pavilion
A fire that started in a pile of rubbish and spread to a derelict bowling pavilion in Stoke-on-Trent has been extinguished.
Just after 11pm on Friday (30 August), we were called to allotments off Campbell Road, Stoke, following reports of rubbish and furniture on fire.
Three gas cylinders within the pile of rubbish exploded. The fire then spread to a disused building.
Multiple crews went to the scene and used specialist equipment to contain the fire.
Our colleagues from Staffordshire Police and Stoke-on-Trent City Council were also there, while specialist engineers attended and deemed the electrical and gas supply to the pavilion to be safe.
No-one was in the building at the time and, thankfully, no-one was injured.
It has been left in the hands of the council to secure the building.
