Fire crews attend accidental house fire
Firefighters have attended a house fire in Rugeley which started accidentally.
We were called at 2.50pm on Friday (10 January) to reports of smoke coming from a property on Fairmount Way.
A total of five crews attended the scene and found a fire on the first floor of the house.
Everyone inside was safely accounted for.
Firefighters used four breathing apparatus and two hose reel jets to put out the fire.
Crews also checked adjoining houses for damage.
We left the scene at 6.30pm.
The fire was later deemed accidental, believed to be a result of a faulty electrical item.
We are reminding people to ensure their home appliances are in safe working order, especially during the colder weather.
It's important that you:
⦁ Use the right power supply for any appliance and do not overload plug sockets.
⦁ Only purchase and use appliances that are suitably accredited with a British or European safety mark
⦁ Never leave appliances running while you are asleep or out
⦁ Regularly check your smoke detector is in good working order
⦁ Plan an escape route with your family so you know how to exit your property if you do encounter a fire in the home.
