Fire crews extinguish bungalow roof fire

We have extinguished a roof fire at a bungalow in south Staffordshire.

Multiple crews went to Yew Tree Drive, Wheaton Aston, just before 4pm yesterday (Sunday 19 May) and found a roof at a bungalow well-alight, with the fire having also spread to the property.  

Nearby properties were evacuated.

Hose reel jets was used to extinguish the blaze alongside our new aerial ladder platform (ALP) vehicle from Longton.

A man was taken to hospital for smoke inhalation.

The fire was extinguished just before 10pm and fire investigators later deemed the fire to be caused accidentally.
