Fire inside chip shop extinguished

Firefighters have extinguished a fire at a chip shop in Newcastle-under-Lyme.

We were called to a business on London Road, Chesterton, at 11.15am yesterday (Monday 21 April) following reports of smoke coming from a flat above.

Three appliances attended the scene and found a fire in the fryer extraction system.

Crews used breathing apparatus and a hose reel jet to extinguish the fire by 12pm.

One woman was given precautionary checks by colleagues from West Midlands Ambulance Service.

Crews left the scene at around 3.30pm.
