Fire station to host car wash for charity

Firefighters from a fire station in North Staffordshire are due to hold a car was in aid of charity.
Crews will be on hand at Newcastle Fire Station, on Knutton Lane, on Saturday 8 March between 10am and 4pm.
The event is in aid of The Fire Fighters Charity, which provides vital health and wellbeing support to the UK’s fire service community.
The charity also has a clothing bank at Newcastle Fire Station, which can be accessed via Silverdale Road to the rear of the station.
Visitors are invited to donate adult and children’s clothing, socks, coats, underwear, paired shoes, handbags and linen.
Wearable clothing will then be resold in underdeveloped countries, whilst unwearable textiles will be recycled into industrial wipers, car upholstery and other materials.
The Firefighters Charity has run the clothing recycling scheme since 2009, and in the last 12 months has raised over £600,000 nationally from these clothing banks.
