We supported the NHS by delivering anti-viral drugs to almost 1,000 vulnerable residents in the county.

Since December 2021, we collected anti-viral medication from Stafford County Hospital and pharmacies in Stoke-on-Trent and delivered them to the most at-risk residents who have tested positive for Covid-19.

Speaking of the partnership working, Mark Walchester, said: “We are humbled to have worked with the NHS and partners in delivering this valuable service. This partnership has meant vital medicines were delivered to the most vulnerable residents within the community.

“We became involved in this service, carrying out deliveries across the county to help ease the strain on the NHS.

“By deploying our teams smartly, makes sure that the most in-need people of Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent were kept as safe as possible.”

Sue Thomson, Clinical Director of Pharmacy at University Hospitals of North Midlands, said: “I’d really like to thank Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service for all the help they given the NHS, including the work they undertook to distribute antiviral medications.”
