UPDATE: Five crews attended a flat fire in Meir

Five fire crews, a water carrier and an aerial ladder platform (ALP) attended a fire at a two-storey block of flats on Brookwood Drive, Meir, this morning (Wednesday 11 September).

Six breathing apparatus and the ALP were used to tackle the blaze.

Two people from inside the flats were rescued and taken to hospital for treatment. Fortunately, there were no other injuries and everyone was safely evacuated and accounted for.

Two crews remain at the scene and the building has been declared safe by structural engineers.

An investigation into the cause of the fire is being carried out with our colleagues from Staffordshire Police.
