Five crews tackle accidental house fire

Five crews and an aerial ladder platform have extinguished a house fire in Stoke-on-Trent.

The call came in at 9.10pm on Saturday (24 August) when the attic of a home caught fire on Cowlishaw Road, Chell Heath.

The fire spread within the building and to the guttering on the home next to it. The neighbouring property was evacuated as a precaution.

Multiple crews went to the scene and used specialist equipment to contain the fire, including the aerial ladder platform (ALP). Our colleagues from Staffordshire Police and West Midlands Ambulance Service were also there.

We worked to dampen down hotspots into the early hours of Sunday (25 August).

A man was assessed by paramedics at the scene. No-one else was injured.

Following an investigation into the cause, it was determined that the fire was started accidentally.

Emergency services have been stood down from the incident.
