Future firefighter applications closing soon

The opportunity to apply to be a full-time firefighter is nearly ending with applications for the role closing on Monday evening (30 September).

The recruitment drive has come at the same time as our HMICFRS report which has rated us as outstanding at responding to major incidents and states we are good at promoting the right values and culture.

Deputy Chief Fire Officer Glynn Luznyj said: “For anyone who is looking for a new career, in a rewarding role, in an organisation that values its people, then I’d suggest consider us.

“We’ve recently received our HMICFRS inspection report which states there is a positive working culture across the service, which is great for potential recruits to know.

“For anyone who is a bit nervous or unsure whether it’s the role for them I’d urge you to apply and then you can find out more. Some of our best firefighters are people who were never sure whether this was going to be the career for them and decades later they are still with us enjoying everything the role brings.”

Successful recruits will benefit from: a professional apprenticeship qualification along with further opportunities to progress, a maternity package that includes up to nine months full pay and three months half pay, free onsite gym access, an excellent pension and earnings of over £36,000 once fully qualified.

To apply visit our Firefighter recruitment page. Applications will close at 23.59pm on 30 September.

The stages of the recruitment process can be found on our website, those who are successful will find out in the winter and will start training in March next year.
